Still feeling presidential
Oct. 15th, 2004 07:51 pmSo we had yet another presidential-type person come visit the office today -- it just wasn't the president of a North American or Western European country. Today Google was graced with the presence of Mikhail Gorbachev.
Well, "graced" might be too delicate a term. I'm quite curious if Mr. Gorbachev is emblematic of the Eastern European political style, even for a reformer. Admittedly he was short on time, and had to work with a translator, but he was very... heavy handed. Carter and Gore were nimble, using their intelligence to dazzle and communicate. Gorbachev was heavy-handed, using a forceful will to barrel through his points (and over our CEO at one point in the "conversation"). Still, it was an interesting talk, and we got to find out about the Green Cross, the environmental NGO that Mr. Gorbachev is currently running.
