Just as cool as Gmail. Just as cool as Google's basic WebSearch service. This morning Google let Google Desktop (beta) out into the world.
With Google's basic web searching capability, you can search the Internet for "airspeed of an unladen African swallow" and get an answer in .65 seconds. With Google Desktop search you can now search the entire contents of your 280GB hard drive and find the document that contains that same phrase in the same amount of time. Or the email. Or the chat session. Or the webpage you visited a few weeks ago. Cool stuff, huh?
You want it? You need Windows XP or Windows 2000 SP3+, and admin rights on your computer. Then go here:
