It's a good day
Jun. 3rd, 2003 12:31 pmIt's always a good day when I get to apply for a job. For those who don't know, I've been unemployed for close to 14 months now. For the last 14 years my job has been video production. I'm the guy who makes those crappy training videos you employed folks have to watch. But I'm also a guy who makes TV commercials, documentaries, and all kinds of other fun stuff. Because I'm not a programmer, web designer, or IT specialist I only find about one job per month I can even apply to. To date, I haven't even landed an interview.
This job is perfect for me. The thought of working at CNET thrills me -- I've always thought they were a cool site. The only downside is that they're in San Francisco, and I live in Mountain View. Fortunately I live near a CalTrain station, and I'm pretty sure CNET's offices are near the SF CalTrain depot.
I learned a long time ago not to get my hopes up on job opportunities. And I won't for this one, either. In the last year I've applied to a lot of cool places including Apple, Stanford, Pinnacle and TechTV. But I'll still dream a little dream of that yellow-and-red CNET logo....
