We Lindied! We Lindied!
Jan. 14th, 2009 12:17 pmIt was always my intention to get decently good at swing dancing before I tackled Latin dances. And over the last few years,
capricious_k and I have taken a smattering of basic swing and Latin classes, but hadn't committed ourselves to anything. And when opportunities for exciting swing dance classes came up, they always seemed to conflict with our schedules, or we didn't sign up in time, or they were too far away.
We were sick of basic six-count swing. We wanted the good stuff. We wanted Lindy Hop.
We finally got to join one of Richard Powers' Couple Dancing classes and after only two weeks, we were excited to not only be doing basic swing-outs but actually combining that with a few moves. It was awesometastic. There was definitely a "Dude! We're swingin'!" moment near the end of the class.
Three more weeks of classes to go. Sadly, next week's class conflicts with Obama's inauguration but I think swing is going to win.
