For my fellow iPhone owners, in case you haven't tried out the Google Mobile App yet, now's the time to give it a shot. Why? Because now you can talk into your phone, and you get awesome search results. There's a good overview (including a video showing it in action) on the Official Google Mobile blog.

I've been using the app for a few weeks now, and it's already changing the way I'm searching. For example, I was laying on the couch catching up on my backlog of 60 Minutes episodes, and they passingly mentioned something called "Task Force 17" that was responsible for gathering some key intelligence in Iraq. "Huh, I wonder what that is?" So I whip out my iPhone, launch the app, and say "Task Force 17 in Iraq" -- instant results!

It's especially awesome for searches with lots of search terms in them -- they'd take several seconds to type, but only a couple of seconds to speak. I'm doing several searches a day on my iPhone, from the trivial to the important. Important? Well the app is location-aware, so you just say "Starbucks" into it and it tells me where I can get the nearest venti coffee frappuccino.

I didn't work on this thing, but I think it's one of the niftiest launches Google has had recently. You can check it out by searching the App Store for "Google Mobile App" (or just "Google" -- it should be one of the top results).
