Jury duty

I've never been called for jury duty until now. I've gone probably 15 years and always dodged the bullet. How did that happen?

Well I was living in Santa Clara county, and then I move about a mile north which happened to cross the county line into San Mateo county. Shortly after I moved, Santa Clara sent me a jury summons. "Sorry, I don't live in your county anymore, wish I could help!"

Then another year passed and I moved back into Santa Clara county. Just a few weeks later San Mateo county sent me a jury duty notice. "Sorry, I don't live in your county anymore, which I could help!" And from that point on, even though I'd filed taxes in both counties, they both forgot about me. More than a decade passed.

But now I'm a homeowner in Santa Clara county, and I'm paying property taxes. I think they finally caught on that I live in their jurisdiction again. And this week I'm on notice to serve.

The nice thing about it, so far, is that they've actually got it all up on a web site so I can just refresh the page a couple of times a day to see if I've been called in. The downside is that they told me to check Friday and I was told to check back again Monday morning. Now on Monday morning I've been told to check back again Monday evening. Really, I'd just like to know if I'm needed and when I should show up so I could just get it over with.
