I saw The Dark Knight with
capricious_k and
fresne last night. Wow. Wow, wow, wow, wow, wow. That was a black, black film. Fortunately I love that sort of thing, so I adored the movie. I think
fresne put it best as we walked out, when she said she was glad that was the last of the superhero movies this summer because they just couldn't get any better.
Probably the worst part was going out to dinner right afterwords and not being able to talk about it, for fear of spoiling anything to anyone sitting near us in the restaurant who hadn't seen it yet. So we contented ourselves with imagining how they'd make a third one in that continuity. Who would be the antagonists? It would have to be another intensely psychological villain. Catwoman? Maybe, but there would be a couple of... complications based on Dark Knight. Bane or Killer Croc are too physical unless the writers came up with some really deeply compelling personalities for them. The Riddler is frankly too similar to the Joker. Hush would require several movies of setup before it would work. Hmmmmm.....
The titular dawn in my title comes in the form of that greatest Mecca of geekdom, the San Diego Comic-Con, which I will be attending later this week (my third year attending, and once again going with
capricious_k and
fresne). We've got passes for all four days, and will be filling our schedules with panels on Torchwood, Stargate, animated comic bookdom, etc. etc., yadda yadda and generally getting our geek on. I'm still riding the high of last night's movie so much that I'm bubbling over with anticipation for Comic-Con. It's gonna be great!!
