And speaking of all things Star Wars, I personally love certain aspects of episodes 1, 2, and 3 -- especially the cool setting -- but like any rational human I recognize that the writing and directing of those movies is simply dreadful. In my own mind, I edit out the bad stuff and simply admire the good stuff, trying to pretend that the craptastic elements never happened.
The saviors of that era in the Star Wars universe seem to be the other writers and directors that Lucas lets play in his galaxy. My eyes were first opened to this possibility by
Genndy Tartakovsky's amazing
Clone Wars animated series (which, if you're a Star Wars fan and you haven't seen, you simply must).
Another animated era is coming, in the form of a fully computer-animated exploration of the Clone Wars era. The animation and art direction look excellent. You can check out the trailer
