Aeria Gloris: Yoko Kanno is a goddess
Mar. 12th, 2008 01:19 pmI finally picked up the DVD box sets of Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex and GitS SAC: 2nd Gig. Good stuff. I was immediately struck by the theme song for SAC.
Then I saw the end credits, and dude! it's by Yoko Kanno! A Japanese woman composing a song with Russian, English, and Latin lyrics, and it's totally, ethereally beautiful. You can here it here.
In case you're not familiar with Yoko Kanno, she's the genius composer behind a ton of really amazing music, including my personal favorite: Tank, the theme to Cowboy Bebop.
(Thanks to
unseelie23 for the link to the live Tank performance.)
