After a lazy morning sleeping in on Thursday, we took a lazy drive directly to the Blackberry Inn, a bed & breakfast we'd booked which is not too far outside the valley. After checking in, we changed into fancier duds and enjoyed a marvelous Thanksgiving dinner in the famous Awahnee Hotel dining room. The giant dining room was quite crowded, as the event is a popular one and booked up months in advance, but it was very much worth it.
Our hostess at the Blackberry Inn, it turns out, is one of the world's foremost experts on hiking in California, who's published a couple of dozen books on the subject. Each room at the B&B had a couple of her books in it for our reference, so we took advantage of the excellent advice and spent all day Saturday and Sunday hiking. We probably did 8 or so miles each day, so we just might have burned off all the calories we'd consumed from the Thanksgiving feast. Although slightly chilly, we were well prepared and the weather was gorgeous.
Photos from our hikes can be found in my gallery here.
Last year we were in NYC for Thanksgiving, this year Yosemite. I wonder what we'll do next year?
Thanks for five wonderful years and unlimited adventures, sweetie!
