Finally, finally, finally got some chances to dance last weekend. Friday night was a very silly Friday Night Waltz in honor of April Fool's day. Somehow [livejournal.com profile] capricious_k and I missed the memo on silly hats, but we still had a good time. So lovely to see folks I haven't had a chance to dance with in a while, especially a couple of surprise visitors who don't usually make FNW.

On Saturday evening I joined [livejournal.com profile] capricious_k, [livejournal.com profile] fresne, and [livejournal.com profile] shipofools999 for my first jaunt to New Wave City in many, many years. I was reminded that NWC was probably the first time I met [livejournal.com profile] fresne, back in the days when [livejournal.com profile] monicat and I were just getting to know [livejournal.com profile] shipofools999.

[livejournal.com profile] monicat, wish you coulda seen it. Space 550 continues to be my favorite club in San Francisco. The NWC dress code has gone seriously downhill over the years, with lots of folks just wearing jeans and nice shirt/blouse. What the place lacked in New Wave style, it more than made up for in musical quality. The theme for the evening was New Order, with the front room primarily playing that. Meanwhile the back room was playing darker, edge-of-goth stuff from the early 90's. We stopped going to NWC years ago because the DJs just weren't playing good music, instead focusing on obscure b-sides. Someone must have hit them over the head with a lace-wrapped clue-stick, because I could have danced all night. I'm going to start keeping an eye on NWC again to see if they can maintain the excellence.
