The first time, it could easily be considered a historical fluke. Too close to call, hanging chads, a man untested at the international level, an outgoing 8 year Democrat. Though so close it hurt, it could almost be understood. So many people who voted for Bush in 2000 just didn't know what he could or would do, and placed their hopes and dreams in his hands.
But not this time. Not twice. Bush Jr. showed his true stripes long ago. And, I'm ashamed to say, my fellow citizens voted him into office again. No mysteries for the second term, everybody knows what he's going to do. And yet (as
codrus so eloquently put it) apparently party loyalty is more important than handing command to nuclear weapons to a man who has proven himself to be a warmonger, not a team player on the world stage, and a repeatably demonstrable moron.
On behalf of the (once again) half of the country that didn't vote for him, and on behalf of the state of California that (once again) didn't vote for him, I'd like to apologize to the rest of the world for the stuff that's going to happen in the next four years.
