Your Wildest Dreams
Aug. 6th, 2003 12:23 pmLast Friday, at Friday Night Waltzes, Joan Walton (the dj) surprised me by playing "Nights In White Satin." Just like when they play Billy Joel's "The Piano Man" I was happy to sing (loudly) along. It was a fabulous waltz. Only problem: no one else was singing (although Joan, at least, appreciated that I loved the song). What's with all of you? Nights In White Satin, people! Sing!!
And the song got stuck in my head....
I had a rough evening last night. At the end of it all I was feeling kind of down, and plopped myself down on my bed. Then the perfect solution hit me; I dropped my Best of the Moody Blues album in the stereo and listened to all my favorites. I haven't listened to that album, oh, since the last time I drove around Lake Tahoe with Monica a few years ago. And lo, it was good.
A few minutes later Bill (my room mate, who's a few years older than I, and with whom I've only been living for 6 months or so) comes up to my door.
"You surprise me," he said.
"Hmm? What, the music?"
"Yeah, I never would have figured."
"Moody Blues?" I responded. "What, you thought it was all techno and Linkin Park for me?"
"Well, yeah..." he smiled.
"I was thinking of pulling my Alan Parsons Project albums out next, you know. After all, I gotta keep you guessing, Bill."
"Well, you're doing a good job. Keep it up."
And lo, it was good. And so today it will be Games People Play, Let's Talk About Me, and Standing On Higher Ground.
