The price of viral marketing

(Ganked from Slashdot)

After 20th Century Fox/Universal encouraged Firefly/Serenity fans to participate in viral marketing campaigns, which are often credited for the success of the film, Universal's lawyers are now sending nasty cease and desist orders and retroactive bills to many of the fans who helped get word of the film out there.

The fan response? Retroactively billing Universal for promotional services rendered.

I've found a better search engine than Google

(Ganked from [livejournal.com profile] remote_elf)

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you Ms. Dewey. Just watch her idle for 10 minutes. Run some searches on your favorite subjects. I promise you'll be amused. Some searches you might try (many of which were suggested by my co-workers):

[ Lord Of the Rings ]
[ football ]
[ beer ]
[ Janina Gavankar ] (This is the actress who plays Ms. Dewey.)
[ Google ]
[ Xbox ]
[ bling ]
[ handcuffs ]
[ Ricardo ]

There are also a lot of good search suggestions on Digg.

The irony, to me, is that she's actually a creation of Microsoft, and the basic search results are provided by MSN.
